Olutola Majolagbe, our Head of Corporate Communications was interviewed on The Sun Newspaper, as she discussed how Nigeria leads Africa in enhancing business with technology
She talked about how TERAWORK brings qualified freelancers and professional service providers together to work effectively on different tasks and projects. She highlighted the importance of the TERAWORK platform to anyone looking for a side hustle or anyone in need of competent hands to help them handle tasks.
She described Nigeria as one of the leading countries in Africa when it comes to enhancing businesses with the use of technology. One of the examples she gave was the increasing use of technology-enhanced taxi services in Africa, most especially Nigeria. She then advanced that TERAWORK is also making giant strides in this respect too, albeit in the freelancing space.
She also spoke about how so many people are freelancers without knowing, how many people do several side jobs and side hustles, uninformed that the term freelancing refers to just what they practice. Then, she talked about where TERAWORK comes in, which is not actually to introduce a new thing, but to increase people’s consciousness and awareness to freelancing by building technology solutions that enhance the adoption of freelance services.
She spoke about some of the challenges TERAWORK has faced so far, especially in the area of trust by our users. She said that being an online platform, people generally usually have reservations and some form of scepticism with regards to payment. However, she made it known that TERAWORK has taken huge measures to ensure the security of transactions and safety of users’ information on the platform.
Talking about the measures taken to ensure a high quality of service delivery from the freelancers on the platform, she said that TERAWORK freelancers are properly vetted and scrutinized before their work profiles are made available to the public. According to her, TERAWORK also ensures that freelancers get paid as long as they deliver jobs at the quality their clients specify, which means they have to meet their clients’ requirements, who then approve that the payment is released to them.
When asked about the Freelance Market Valuation in Nigeria, she responded that while there has not been any empirical study/research or market valuation of the freelance market in Nigeria, it is a huge market with enormous opportunities to create value for freelancers and offer convenience for buyers, and that very soon, there will be a market valuation.
The session was wrapped up with her stating that TERAWORK aims to become the market leader in the freelance space in Africa, and that a huge amount of effort is being made towards achieving this.
